Synopsis
Charlie is a four-year-old who idolizes his father, who is heading off to war. Before he goes, however, Hank gives his son an army figurine to remember him by, which Charlie cherishes. Later, Charlie is on the floor playing with his new army toys. In the background the news is on the television, detailing the latest battle in the war. Suddenly, the audience is transported through the television broadcast into the actual battle. Cutting back and forth between the real battle and the imaginary one taking place on the floor, the two scenes are paralleled. The scene ends with a real battle, in which Hank, Charlie's father, is killed from a gunshot wound. When Charlie learns that his father will never return from overseas, he puts his father's figurine in a special place and decides not to play war anymore.
