Synopsis

This work in progress displays the messages and facts of the world's largest coffee company by investigating some of their communication tactics in relation to unfair labor practices of baristas in the United States and Europe, and some of the exploitative conditions that coffee farmers in Ethiopia must face. I began working on it in 2006 as part of my academic career in Media Studies at the New School, and have been developing it conceptually and through production ever since. It is slated to become a full-length documentary in 2008 as part of the completion of my Master's Thesis, which is a written project dissecting Starbucks' communication strategy as it relates to the larger picture.
