Synopsis
The leading exploitation film company in Jersey City owned by the demented, bearded, Bundy Brothers. They go big budget for the first time ($100,000). The location: Kaplan's Swamp, the site of a little known Civil War Battle after which all the survivors had to subsist on the flesh of the dead for weeks when a flood cut them off from civilization.
Roger Alright, a recent film school graduate and the Studios' top director ignores warnings that the Ghouls still exist and takes cast and crew deep into the heart of the swamp. He's sure that it's his ticket to Hollywood.
Saddled by Nadine, an ingénue that can't scream (except when he touches her) and a Noel, the criminally insane producer-writer, Roger slogs on heroically as his cast and crew are butchered and barbecued by the "Renegade Ghouls of Kaplan's Swamp" who thirst for human flesh and recognition on the Food Channel.
The last scene is about to be shot when the Ghouls mount their final attack. The Ingénue and her love interest, a handsome actor playing a young Union officer, are able to escape off into the sunset, just like in the script, with their lives and awful Brooklyn accents intact.
Weeks later the rescue party finds the bones of some the crew but no trace of the Director or cast. To their astonishment they discover that someone has completed the last few scenes in picture and they are brilliant.
Noel, the mad screenwriter, and Nadine the totally inept ingénue, have reached the heights of filmdom. The Renegade Ghouls are in Hollywood running things. They were the ones that finished picture. There was never much that much difference between ghouls and the Hollywood power elite in the first place..
