Overview

  • Bio

Scott Starrett has composed original music for award-winning feature films and television. According to The Boston Globe, his music possesses "an attractively dappled quality as contrasting gestures interrupt and overlap each other."

Recent scoring credits include the Apollo astronaut feature documentary "The Wonder of It All" and the animated TV pilot "Taikonautz." Starrett collaborated as a composer-orchestrator with Michael Kamen on HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon" and MTV's "Bryan Adams Unplugged" as well as creating musical arrangements for Lisa Loeb.

As a concert composer, Starrett's works have been performed by the Boston-based Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Juilliard Symphony. After graduating from Stanford University, he earned a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where he studied under John Corigliano, Academy Award winning composer of "The Red Violin." He was then awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study music composition in Rome, Italy, under the sponsorship of Hans Werner Henze. A native of Cincinnati, Starrett now resides in Los Angeles.
