The Fascination
The lure of the darkness and the distant call of the light.

Our main character is ravaging his body and mind, searching for a fleeting vision he once had. On his way he digs deeper and deeper into the underground world of night creatures and the uncaring, never stopping world.
We meet him as he is being circled by the lights and the movement of the city. Buildings are rising above him as though they will swallow him whole and take the record of his existence with them. Then the scene is literally swallowed into a bubble, representing the delusion of the main character's vision as he is convinced there is only one way to meet his ends. As he is enveloped into the bubble, the band rises above it and look down almost crystal ball like at him and the small world he has created. They watch as he makes his way deeper and deeper into an underground which holds no answers and has no end.
All the while, his sister is pleading with him to remember who he was and is. She comes to him on spikes of light, breaking into his bubble, but she can not pull him out, he must want to come to her. Time after time he turns away, certain he he will find the answers further into the darkness.

October 8, 2008Jea Devoe You go Pro! boy in the bubble looks already finished just add the music interactive or not like it a lot!! you can use it just the way it is stark Black and white my favorite.Congratulation's I'll be watching for your future work
September 26, 2008HandsomeDrew I see a clear storyline. I's a subtle thematic journey, and it works. Stories don't have to have a perfect linear arc with plot points. Hell if you animated the storyboards the animation alone would hold up as a decent video. Good stuff, you are tough competition.
September 21, 2008James Mathews Your pitch really pulled us in. Great storyboards, riveting pitch video, and we loved the original idea. Very nice. Good luck!
September 20, 2008Christian Badami One of my faves. On first viewing it was necessary to set aside the element of competition, because I could not deny the feeling that I was witnessing something cool - which by the end connected with me and moved me. While I wasn't sure how fleshed-out the final visuals are meant to be, I wouldn't mind if you intend them to look exactly like the storyboard panels - sort of a roto-scoped black & white animation, because it's very intriguing in that form. There is true passion and excitement here and that is something to be appreciated. Congrats on great work and best of luck.
September 20, 2008Griff Just to clarify, obviously the submitter is using the band in the video. But in terms of the review process, I just meant to put out an open-ended question. I suspect the 5 pitch finalists will comprise a spectrum of band-heavy screen time, light band visuals, or no band presence at all.
September 20, 2008Griff This is a good effort. The storyboards look professional, if a bit mechanized/derivative. The concept is dreamlike, and very abstract - which can be both a strength and a weakness. The visuals are strongly presented. Clearly this is a product of someone with experience in the industry.
September 20, 2008Admittedly, I only watched 90 seconds of pitch video. Although the submitter is impressive, with an impressive resume and collaboraters, I honestly got tired of hearing too much about him in particular. While that is important, to me, it's really all about the pitch itself.
A very interesting issue for me, is whether or not the band will appear in the video, and if so, to what extent.
Best of luck, and again, I really appreciate the expertise and professionalism of the effort.
Kalki Your storyboards are stunning! They convey a definite mood. The story itself seems to be loaded with SFX. I'm wondering if anyone read the small print, that mentioned, "no special effects" as part of the competitions rules. Other than my point about the special effects, your "story" also needs more of an arc.
September 17, 2008Max Gonzalez lol funny treatment!! are you writing a poem or a movie? where is the action? and by action I don't mean guns and car chases, I mean the literal action in front of the camera.
